Hi! My name is Stella Kimbrough (she/ her) and I help adults and teens struggling with intense emotions to fully step into their life’s purpose. Through honest and collaborative guidance, I will help you recognize how your past has affected your identity and ability to pursue the path to your greatest self.
My goal is to help you discover who you are, how you have been impacted by the events of your life, and how to use this knowledge to turn your wounds into strengths. I believe in openness, honesty, trust, and collaboration as guiding forces crucial to the therapy process. I also like to infuse humor and levity wherever possible. Together we will figure it out!
I graduated with a master's degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2019, where I focused my studies on trauma and addiction. During my graduate education I completed internships at an inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility and a community mental health clinic in Delaware county.
So far in my career I have worked as an outpatient therapist at a community health clinic in Sharon Hill, PA, and a group practice in Bryn Mawr, PA. While working at the group practice, I met with clients in the West Chester, Philadelphia, and Bryn Mawr offices.
I opened my own private practice Calm Pathway, LLC in 2022 to better serve the community by offering both online and in-person therapy options for adults and teens navigating trauma, grief, and intense emotions.
In addition, I have undergone extensive training and certification in EMDR therapy. I have also completed many trainings related to anxiety therapy, depression therapy, and DBT therapy.
I believe that honesty is fundamental to change. I am here to give you my honest feedback and opinions so that you can grow and succeed, even if that means telling you things that are hard to hear. I also vow to be as honest and transparent as possible throughout our working relationship to foster a sense of safety.
Trust is something that is built over time in relationships. I hope to create a space in which trust can develop in order to build the foundation for a strong therapeutic alliance. I am especially mindful of boundaries within the therapy setting and believe that appropriate boundaries help to build trust.
I believe that treatment should be co-created and guided by both client and therapist working as partners, and try to reduce any hierarchy as much as possible. I also like to collaborate by helping you build a team of supports, meaning anyone who can help you in your treatment goals (doctor, psychiatrist, partner, parent, friend, etc.).
I am a fundamentally curious person, and bring that curious spirit into the therapy room. My hope is that my curiosity is contagious, and that you get curious about yourself too!
I believe that compassion is a true healing force. I believe that leading with compassion and empathy is crucial in order to reduce shame, a painful feeling so many of us experience.
I believe that people have the capacity to grow and change at any stage in life. I remain committed to personal and professional growth, and strive to continue to learn and challenge myself so that I can provide the highest quality services possible and so that YOU can grow too.
I know you have within you what you need to succeed, and want to empower you to find and use these resources so that you can step into the most confident, centered version of you.
I strive to bring awareness to the unique cultural, historical, and identity-related issues that can impact people from all backgrounds. I believe that context is key to understanding someone's unique circumstances.
